The Department of Government and Public Policy seeks to appoint a scholar in the field of public policy at the level of Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor in the US).

We are open with regard to area of research, but are particularly interested in the following areas: regulation; technology policy; climate policy; housing policy; multilevel governance; global policy and policy interdependence; policy monitoring, indicators and evaluation. The ability to study and teach public policy in a comparative perspective would be very valuable.

The department has a long tradition in the study of public policy, and also hosts two major public policy research centres (European Policies Research Centre, Centre for Energy Policy). Our team researches the policymaking process from a theoretical and comparative perspective, and we also have an innovative programme in data science and policy-making. The successful candidate will engage with our existing team to develop our public policy teaching programme and major collaborative projects.

In keeping with our commitment to equality and diversity and to broaden the Department’s geographical scope, we encourage applications from all sections of the community, particularly those from currently underrepresented backgrounds.

Presentations to the Department will be held on either 23rd of October OR 30th October.

Formal Interviews for this post will be held on 13 November 2023.

Informal enquiries about the post can be directed to Anthony McGann, Head of Department (anthony.mcgann@strath.ac.uk).
