This accessibility statement applies to the University of Strathclyde Applicant Tracking System.

This website is run by the University of Strathclyde. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Third party components

We have identified the following issues within third party components used on our website. We are collaborating with our suppliers to improve the accessibility of their components or to source alternatives.

AccessiBe Accessibility Tool

The AccessiBe accessibility tool is not contained by landmarks and is not always compatible with screen readers. This fails WCAG 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context) and WCAG 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value.

OneTrust Cookie Consent

The OneTrust Cookie Consent does not reflow when zoomed in at 400%, so people with visual impairment may not access the information. This fails WCAG 1.4.10 Reflow.

The OneTrust Cookie Consent service in the bottom corner of the webpage has hidden elements that receive focus, which can be confusing for people who use a keyboard. This fails WCAG 2.1.1 Keyboard, 2.4.3 Focus Order and WCAG 2.4.7 Focus Visible.

The OneTrust Cookie Consent uses ARIA attributes inappropriately. This fails WCAG 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value.

Freshchat Technical Support

The Freshchat Technical Support does not reflow when zoomed in at 400%, so people with visual impairment may not access the information. This fails WCAG 1.4.10 Reflow.

The Freshchat Technical Support icon in the bottom corner of the webpage is not accessible using the keyboard, so people with visual impairment may not access the information, this fails WCAG 2.1.1 Keyboard, WCAG 2.4.7 Focus Visible and WCAG 2.4.3 Focus Order

The Freshchat Technical Support Zooming and scaling must not be disabled, so people with visual impairment may not access the information. This fails WCAG 1.4.4 Resize Text

YouTube video/audio player

YouTube uses ARIA attributes which cannot be used in this element. This fails WCAG 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value.

Captcha Images

Images must have alternative text. People with sight loss may not be able to see an image clearly on a page. This fails WCAG 1.1.1 Non-text Content and WCAG 1.4.5 Images of Text.

Website content

We have identified the following issues with our website content. We aim to address these issues by the 31st December 2024.

Forms

On some of our forms, some of the placeholder text has insufficient contrast. People with sight loss may not be able to see the text clearly on a page. This fails WCAG 1.4.3 Contrast (minimum).

Modal Dialogs

The Login and Register modal dialogs require scrolling in multiple dimensions at 400% zoom. This fails WCAG 1.4.10 Reflow.

Some dialog content is partly covered by the third party chat button when viewed at 400% zoom, making content hard to read. This fails WCAG 1.4.10 Reflow.

PDFs and Word documents

Some documents are not semantically marked up correctly, so are not readable by a screen reader. This fails WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships.

Some documents do not have sufficient contrast between the text and background colours. This fails WCAG 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum).

Some logo images are missing alt text. This fails WCAG 1.1.1 Non-Text Content.

Some documents do have a language definition. This fails WCAG 3.1.1 Language of Page.

We have updated our Word document template to address accessibility issues. The new template has been shared with our recruitment managers and will be adopted over time moving forwards.
