The University of Strathclyde Mediation Clinic, founded in 2012, provides a free mediation service that supports sheriff courts in resolving cases under the Simple Procedure rules. Postgraduate students collaborate with experienced mediators to gain valuable practical experience while providing a free service to local communities.  The Award-Winning Clinic covers eighteen sheriff courts and due to recent Scottish Government funding will be expanding the service Scotland-wide.

 

The Mediation Clinic (based within the Law School) wishes to appoint a Service Delivery Administrator to support the Clinic. The post holder will be responsible for providing essential day-to-day administrative support for the Mediation Clinic and will deal with a wide range of enquiries to the service. This varied role will include conducting initial calls with service users and liaising with over 50+ mediators and the public. Communicating with other stakeholders eg internal University departments, Scottish Courts and Tribunal Service and the Scottish Government will be essential to the role. The post holder will work with the Clinic Board to develop and organise our annual conference and work with university departments to re-design our web presence. Key attributes include a flexible approach to changing priorities, patience in dealing with people in difficult circumstances, and dealing with sensitive matters confidentially.

 

To be considered for this role you will be educated to a minimum of HNC grade level and have relevant work experience or will possess significant relevant work experience in a similar role. You will have experience of working in an office environment and will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will be IT literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office packages and you will possess strong organisational skills, with the ability to work to deadlines. Working efficiently and flexibly, the role plays a key part in the delivery of an excellent user experience assisting the University to meet the strategic goals.

 

This role is funded by the Scottish Government until March 2025.
