to deliver world-class research and global impact, the Glasgow
City Innovation District (GCID) was launched in February 2019 as a hub for
entrepreneurship, innovation, and collaboration. It builds on Scotland’s rich
tradition of scientific excellence and industrial collaboration. Bringing
together ambitious, forward-thinking people, the District is tackling societal
and global challenges and driving inclusive economic growth. The University of
Strathclyde is committed to the development of six new clusters contributing
to GCID; FinTech, 5G, Space, Industrial Informatics, Health Tech and Quantum.
These clusters have been established to act as a coalescing mechanism for both
internal research and external collaboration.
The creation of the FinTech Cluster builds on the University’s
strength to combine a set of complementary activities in:

in technologies that are disrupting financial services including block chain,
crypto currencies, A.I. and ‘super computers’.
· FinTech
education.
· Expert
understanding of the social impact of new and emerging technologies
· Its
world-leading approach to industry engagement.
· Understanding
of the legal and regulatory implications of new financial services and new
financial services providers.
The FinTech Cluster has
established a number of cross Faculty activities and initiatives but is
primarily lead by Strathclyde Business School (SBS).
