Cities globally have vital roles to play in meeting the UN
Sustainable Development Goals – including tackling climate change and reducing
poverty. You will be working in an
exciting area that brings academics, policy makers and the commercial sector together
to help improve the quality of life for citizens, and to demonstrate how urban
challenges can be addressed. The
Institute for Future Cities is seeking an experienced Business Development
Manager to work closely with its senior management team to drive forward our
research agenda, and to extend our partnerships globally. You will be focussed
on responding to funding opportunities, identifying those most relevant to the
Institute’s mission, and developing bids alongside the Faculty and University professional
services and the Institute directors, as well being part of a team delivering
successful projects.
To be successful, you must have proven bid and tender writing
skills, and experience of project management. You should be confident and have
good interpersonal skills, as your role will often be the first point of
contact with potential clients and partners. Experience in building
partnerships and networks will be useful.
Experience working in areas relevant to urban development, urban
systems and urban futures would be advantageous – such as sustainability, resilience, urban
planning, and international development. You will be joining a highly
motivated and focussed team who have a strong track record in helping the
University and its partners achieve their key objectives.
