The Department of Computer and Information Sciences (CIS) seeks to appoint either a Teaching Fellow or Senior Teaching Fellow in Computer Science to: lead the design, development and delivery of a range of computer science teaching programmes and undertake student assessment activities; lead scholarship, professional and knowledge exchange activities including continuing professional development CPD; and to carry out senior administrative tasks assigned by the Head of Department.

The successful applicant will have primary interests and expertise in computer programming. The appointee will be expected to manage and teach on the Department’s new MSc Software Development degree including course directorship.  The ability to teach programming in one or more of the programming languages taught on this course (i.e. Python, JavaScript, Java) is essential, as is the ability to teach programming in the software engineering context.  The appointee will also be appointed PGT Deputy Director for continuing professional development (CPD) and will be expected to lead development and delivery of CPD computer programming offerings.

Candidates will demonstrate appropriate experience in their teaching discipline with have a record of achievement in their career to date.  They will have ambitious academic goals, and understanding and experience of generating CPD income.

It is anticipated that formal interviews for this post will take place week commencing 19 March 2018.
