Lecturer in Scots Private Law (395146)

Salary: £37,467 - £40,927
FTE:1.0 (full time)
Term: Open Contract
Closing Date: 22/09/2021

For over 50 years the University of Strathclyde Law School has been educating lawyers who want to make a difference to today’s world. Our research has been rated best in Scotland for intensity and our staff are among the top experts in their fields. We focus on learning with impact and want our students not only to have the best classroom based experience but to learn how to deal with real clients in a rapidly changing world.

Due to our rapid growth trajectory and ambitions for the future, we are seeking a range of talented individuals to augment our current staffing profile. One of our key strategic areas for appointment is in Scots Private Law and we are looking to appoint an academic who specialises in that area. Applications from candidates with expertise in Voluntary and Involuntary Obligations, Property Trusts and Succession and/or Commercial Law will be particularly welcome but any area of Scots Private Law will be considered.

The appointee will generate research of international excellence and will co-ordinate and teach undergraduate (and, as required and appropriate postgraduate) classes in relevant subject areas.  They will contribute to the collegial, supportive and energetic research culture in the law school.

Candidates should have or, exceptionally, be close to completing, a PhD (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline, be able to demonstrate a body of published work in high quality publications and have an ability to secure research funding. Candidates should also possess relevant teaching experience and have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

Informal enquiries about the post can be directed to Professor Claire McDiarmid, Head of School (claire.mcdiarmid@strath.ac.uk).

Formal interviews will be held in the weeks beginning 4 and 11 October.
