The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, seeks to recruit a Teaching Associate, to assist a Teaching Fellow in the day-to-day development and then delivery of a new Master of Science (MSc) course in Satellite Applications, in partnership with the UK Space Agency, and a number of UK and international, academic and commercial partners. The course will comprise existing cross-faculty material alongside to-be-developed material, and seeks to develop a globally unique and innovative learning experience and environment.

As a Teaching Associate you will deliver teaching modules and undertake student assessment and supervision activities, with support and guidance from senior colleagues as required; you will collaborate with the Teaching Fellow on the development and delivery of a new Master of Science (MSc) course in Satellite Applications and you will engage in relevant scholarship, professional and knowledge exchange activities; and input to administrative activities. You will support the development of proposals to secure funding to support on-going additional teaching developments.

To be considered for the role, you will be educated to a minimum of PhD level in an appropriate discipline, or have relevant experience in addition to a relevant degree. You will have experience of working in, or working with satellite applications and experience of teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. You will have experience of student assessment activities, an ability to plan and organise your own workload, an ability to work within a team environment, a passion for teaching and excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to listen, engage and persuade, and to present complex information in an accessible way to a range of audiences.

Whilst not essential for the role, applications are welcomed from candidates with: membership of relevant Chartered/professional bodies (including the Higher Education Academy); experience of supervising students; experience of curriculum development; experience of scholarship/research activities; and/or experience of knowledge exchange activities.
