The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is a vibrant department which has strong research expertise in Applied Analysis, Continuum Mechanics and Industrial Mathematics, Numerical Analysis, Marine Population Modelling, Mathematical Biology, Epidemiology and Statistical Informatics, Applied Statistics and Stochastic Analysis. We have a distinguished track record of conducting high quality research in mathematics and statistics applied to a wide range of real world problems. The Department has also developed distinctive teaching modules for our own degree programmes, as well as for scientists and engineers across the University, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

In order to further strengthen its research, teaching, and knowledge exchange activities the Department is now inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Teaching Assistant to augment the delivery of its undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes, our Upskilling and Microcredentials statistics modules, as well as knowledge exchange projects. For the post you will hold a good honours degree in statistics (or have equivalent professional experience) and be able to contribute to teaching programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will able to work in a team environment, develop knowledge of teaching and student assessment methods, and you will be able to plan and organise manage your own workload effectively.
