We are seeking to appoint an extraordinary early career academic in post-1900 historical studies in one of our strategically important research areas, namely ‘Health and Well Being Across Time and Place’. This multi-disciplinary research area includes research that addresses how societies across the globe have understood, described and tried to achieve health and well-being during different periods of history. It addresses how culture, politics, economics, migration and technological change have all influenced both disease patterns and society’s attempts to promote health. By analysing historical experience of and knowledge about health and wellbeing, it seeks to inform today’s debates about how best to fight disease and promote healthy lifestyles.
In order to apply, you should have:
- A PhD and postdoctoral research experience;
- An emerging publication history in high quality academic journals; and
- Research interests which align with our areas of strategic priority
The
key area of strategic priority for this position is women’s health and
reproduction, aligning with our new programmes in Gender Studies and enabling
interdisciplinary teaching and research supervision. Interests in literary
and/or film studies are also desirable.
Informal
enquiries about the post can be directed to Maureen McDonald, PA to Head of School (maureen.mcdonald@strath.ac.uk).
