Research Associate to work on the project: “An Investigation of the neural bases of hypnosis and suggestibility” As a Research Associate, under the general guidance of Dr William McGeown, you will play a key role within a project funded by The Leverhulme Trust: “An Investigation of the neural bases of hypnosis and suggestibility”.  The research project will investigate the neuroanatomical variation and patterns of functional connectivity that are associated with suggestibility and hypnotic phenomena. 

The successful candidate will be required to contribute to the planning and development of the study and the recruitment and assessment of participants. They will also be expected to carry out literature reviews and to extract critical information and key concepts.  The role also involves managing everyday activities that relate to the project, writing up research work for publication, in collaboration with colleagues, and disseminating the results via peer reviewed journal publications and presentation at conferences.  Other collaborators on the project are Prof Irving Kirsch (Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center), Prof Giuliana Mazzoni (University of Hull) and Prof Annalena Venneri (University of Sheffield).
 
To be considered for the role, you will be educated to doctoral level in an appropriate discipline, or have significant relevant experience in addition to a relevant degree. You will have sufficient breadth or depth of knowledge in neuroimaging techniques (analytics with, for example, voxel-based morphometry, cortical thickness or functional connectivity assessment) OR you will have experience in research on hypnosis/suggestibility.  Strong writing skills are critical.  Furthermore, a willingness and ability to travel within the central belt of Scotland is a prerequisite (e.g., via train). 

The post is offered for a fixed term period, 01 September 2018 – 31 August 2020.
