The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is seeking to appoint a Faculty Editor to coach Academic colleagues across all Schools and subject areas in various aspects of the publication process, including improvement of writing skills to become more effective efficient writers and working with colleagues to improve the language, style and clarity of publications for REF submission.  The successful applicant should be able to train staff on how to translate research findings for a variety of audiences, such as blog posts, The Conversation, Op-Eds, briefing papers etc.  The successful applicant will also be required to assist with the grant writing process.

Educated to degree level, candidates will be PhD qualified or will have appropriate Professional experience in a relevant area.  Candidates must be able to demonstrate a broad understanding of academic publishing in Humanities and Social Sciences as well as knowledge of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) and its impact on higher education in the UK. The successful candidate will be an experienced coach, capable of editing academic writing efficiently and constructively in order to assist in enhancing the Faculty’s contribution to the REF 2020.
