Research Associate: Widening Access (99354)
 

Salary range:  £31,604-£35,550 per annum
FTE:  1.0 (35 hours per week)
Term:  Fixed term (6 months)

A Research Associate is sought for a 6 month post to contribute to the Blueprint for Fairness in the Glasgow Region project. This exciting post will provide research support to the project board, consisting of heads of widening access for the Universities of Glasgow, Glasgow Caledonian and Strathclyde, FOCUS West, local authority and third sector representatives. The project will utilise new and existing data to investigate current patterns of progression to higher education and map access activity within schools. The project board will develop proposals for a collaborative, regional approach to access and outreach involving sustainable, evidence-informed programmes of activities throughout the learner journey and involving families and communities.

The post holder will contribute to documentary and secondary data analysis and the development of proposals and pilot activities related to schools engagement and widening access to higher education. A Good Honours degree and PhD (or equivalent professional experience) in an appropriate discipline are essential, as is experience of the development, delivery or evaluation of access activities in schools, colleges or university. Other essential requirements include experience with qualitative and quantitative research and analysis; ability to write reports and papers for publication; ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to work under pressure and driven to deliver results; excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to listen, engage and persuade, and to present complex information in an accessible way to a range of audiences.

Secondments will be considered and there is flexibility to work part-time over a longer time period.

Interviews are scheduled to take place during week commencing 15 January 2018.
