The Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy &
Biomedical Sciences (SIPBS) seeks to appoint suitably qualified staff to
positions in pharmacoepidemiology and health care research who will add to
our current portfolio in research, teaching and knowledge exchange. SIPBS is
ranked in the top fifty globally and second in the UK for pharmacy and
pharmacology. The successful candidates will join an energetic and innovative
Institute committed to bold and innovative research and education. Our
research operates under the headline New Medicines, Better Medicines, Better
Use of Medicines and our research strength was highlighted by the 2014 UK
Research Assessment Exercise in which we were placed fourth of 94 on research
power (Unit of Assessment 3- Allied Health). Our teaching in pharmacy is
fully accredited by the General Pharmaceutical Council and teaching in
biomedical sciences is similarly accredited by both the Institute of
Biomedical Sciences and the Society of Biology.
To be considered for these positions you will have a
doctoral degree (or equivalent) and preferably independent postdoctoral
experience. Through innovative
research and effective collaboration, you will establish a high quality
externally funded programme in your field of interest. With guidance from
senior colleagues, the role will involve engaging with academic and external
partners to support and deliver research, training and knowledge exchange
programmes. Active contribution to our
research programmes is expected through supervision of students and collaboration
with colleagues (within SIPBS and outside) to develop programmes of work
focused on pharmacoepidemiology and/or healthcare research.
Research Starter Grant
The Faculty of Science offers a
Research Starter Grant to all new full-time, non-professorial, academic staff
within the Faculty. The Grant may be used for any purpose that assists staff
to establish their Strathclyde research career and to assist in attracting
additional funding for research from external sources.
