The University of Strathclyde is seeking to appoint an Assistant Archivist to play a leading role in the Archives and Special Collections team in the University Library. This is a new post, created to support and develop all aspects of the work of the team. It will include collecting, appraising, cataloguing, preserving and promoting the University’s rich holdings of archives and special collections in all formats including digital. The role has a particular focus on cataloguing archives, an area identified by the Library as a priority. The post holder will deputise for the University Archivist in their absence.

You will be a graduate with a professional qualification in archives administration and have experience of the full range of archive management activities. You will have particularly strong archive cataloguing skills and be thoroughly familiar with international cataloguing standards. In addition, you will be highly motivated and enthusiastic and have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, capable of working with a range of stakeholders and to work independently.
